Interfast CEO Counsels Patience in Chinese Market

Toronto-based Interfast Inc. has garnered attention in recent months for teaming up with China’s AVIC International Zhuhai Co. Ltd. to open a new joint venture aerospace fastener facility in Guangdong Province.

Interfast-AVIC Aerospace Co., Ltd. will supply specialized aerospace fasteners and hardware and offer engineering support to service domestic and international aerospace firms operating in Asia.

In a recent interview, Interfast CEO Douglas Woollings told the Financial Post that when other companies consider building a presence in China, they’d do well to treat the process with patience.

“Don’t try and do it all over night,” Woollings stated. “Learn how to do business without stepping on people’s toes. Learn the culture of the country. And at all times treat them equally and fairly.”

Other advice?

“It’s also good to be a listener and not be too aggressive.”
