A.K.O. Inc. is expanding its fastener business, COO Jim Pagano announced. AKO manufactures torque calibration and testing equipment.

A.K.O. recently joined the  International Fastener Machinery & Suppliers Association.

A.K.O. was founded in 1958 when Roland Leclerc acquired Avery, Kretzmer, Olcott Inc., an industrial scales and water pump business. Leclerc focused A.K.O. on industrial testing and started a testing division in 1963 for aerospace machining suppliers. In 1965, the name changed to A.K.O. Inc. The testing division designed a thru-hole reaction torque transducer for applied torque on the accumulator head fasteners. The U.S. Navy purchased an initial order and later required the transducer for accumulators and other precision torque determinations.

Now in its third generation as a family business, AKO is located at 50 Baker Hollow Rd., Windsor CT 06095. Tel: 860 298-9765 Web: AKOtorque.com
