Alcoa Fastening Systems boosted its aerospace capacity by acquiring two fastener companies: Republic Fastener Manufacturing Corp. and Van Petty Manufacturing. \Owned by the Wood Family Trust, the both aerospace fastener makers are located in Newbury Park, CA, and have a total of 240 employees and combined 2007 revenue of $51 million.
AFS president Olivier Jarrault said the acquisitions added “much needed aerospace fastener capacity.” AFS is a primary supplier to Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner program, which has faced costly delays due to a critical aerospace fastener shortage.
Founded in 1968, Republic focuses on the super standard” end of the aerospace fastener locknut product line, which includes both sheet metal and wrenchable fasteners. Web: republicfastener.com
Van Petty, founded in 1943, produces aerospace fasteners used primarily by engine and equipment manufacturers.
Torrance, CA-based AFS has 6,600 employees operating at 26 locations in 9 countries. AFS revenue has grown 15% annually since 2004.
