ACQUISITION: Chinese Firm Acquires Align Aerospace

China’s Aviation Industry Corp. subsidiary AVIC International completed its acquisition of Align Aerospace Holding Inc., a Chatsworth, CA-based distributor of aerospace fasteners and other hardware, China Daily USA reports. Terms were not disclosed.

Late last year AVIC International and Align’s principal shareholder Greenbriar Equity Group agreed to the deal, which was recently approved by the Chinese and U.S. governments.

AVIC president Tan Ruisong said the deal will expand AVIC International’s “aerospace service portfolio and boost its domestic supply chain management.”

Align Aerospace is a global distributor of 100,000 SKUs of aerospace fasteners and other hardware, primarily to OEMs and their suppliers. Align has distribution centers in California and France, and forward stocking locations in Texas, Canada, Australia and China, and is headquartered at 21123 Nordhoff St., Chatsworth, CA 91311. “We plan to grow Align’s relevance with its current customers in parallel with expanding the business globally, especially in the Chinese market,” added AVIC Int’l chairman Wu Guangquan.

AVIC International plans to integrate the distribution teams in the US, Canada and China’s Zhuhai, which is expected to help in aviation hardware purchases, stocking and distribution for aviation OEMs and MROs in China and other countries, China Daily USA reports.

In 2011, AVIC acquired two U.S. companies – Cirrus and Continental Motors, and in 2009, acquired Future Advanced Composite Components, an offshoot of Austrian ski maker Fischer.
