Acquisitions Drive Grainger Sales Gains

Grainger reported daily sales increased 1% in February 2016.

The results included a 4 percentage point contribution from Cromwell Group (Holdings) Ltd., acquired September 1, 2015, and a 1 percentage point reduction from foreign exchange.

Excluding acquisitions and foreign exchange, organic daily sales declined 2%, driven by a 2 percentage point decline from lower sales of seasonal products, a 2 percentage point decline in price, a 1 percentage point decline from lower sales of Ebola products and a 1 percentage point decline from Canada’s deployment of SAP.

The decline was partially offset by a 4 percentage point increase in volume.

Sales in the U.S. dropped 1% in February, while sales in Canada fell 33% and sales in Grainger’s Other Businesses segment jumped 46%.
