ACQUISITIONS: Southco Acquires CounterBalance Corp.

Southco Asia Ltd., a subsidiary of fastener manufacturer Southco Inc., completed its acquisition of U.S.-based CounterBalance Corp. for an undisclosed sum.

“CounterBalance’s design and manufacturing capabilities will strengthen Southco’s global Positioning Technology product portfolio by expanding the performance to cover a wider variety of applications with higher load forces,” Southco stated.

Southco CEO Brian McNeill added: “With this acquisition, Southco expands its successful Positioning Technology line and value-added capabilities to the markets we serve.”

Southco was founded in 1899 as a specialty pipe manufacturer for the Pennsylvania oil industry. In 1945, Southco Inc. was created with the entry into the specialty fastener and latch business.
