The 2001 Confederation of British Metalforming technical conference will focus on affordable opportunities.
The conference will be October 12, 2001, at the National Metalforming Centre inWest Midlands.
There are sessions on hot forging, fastener production and sheet metalforming. Each session will begin with speakers on strategic insight into the market, followed by papers on equipment, processes and materials.
�With the Climate Change Levy now penalizing metalforming companies, the final plenary session includes a review of practical energy conservation meansures, including an objective look at payback periods for areas of possible investment and a look at how simple management systems can keep a lid on your fuel bills,� director general Neil Marshall said.
Conference topics include: Tool cost reduction through system logistic and tool design, process monitoring; new 3D stimulation software, energy conservation case studies, global standardization and automotive perspectives on continuous improvement trends, fully automatic forging, fluid management, need for consistent material properties; high-speed machining, cost reduction for high-volume forged components and maximizing tool life.
Suppliers will have exhibition stands during the conference.
