Agrati, LISI Bid on Acument Fastener Operations in France
Acument Global Technologies plans to sell its fastener operations in France.
“Acument is in the process of negotiating the divestiture of our existing fastener manufacturing operations in France to two European fastener companies,” Acument communications director Tim Weir told GlobalFastenerNews.com.
“We began the process of pursuing the sale of our French business in November 2009 and are hopeful that we can conclude it in the near future.”
One company is LISI Group subsidiary LISI Automotive, which extended an offer on November 2, 2009, to take over two Acument automotive fastener plants. The two plants are located in Bonneuil-sur-Marne (Val de Marne) and La Ferté Fresnel (Orne), with a combined workforce of 350 and estimated 2009 revenue of EUR 40 million (US$59.5 million).
The other company is Italy’s Agrati Group, which is negotiating to buy Acument’s other fastener facilities in France.
“The negotiations (with Agrati) are now underway and have the support of the French government and our primary customers in France,” Weir said.
Acument’s Avdel business unit’s operations in Paris are outside the parameters of the pending sale.
Acument operates a sales and engineering office in Creteil (Paris); a bolts and cold-formed parts facility in Amiens; a plastic components plant in Bonneuil; a bolts and SEMS factory in Fourmies; a propriety screws and metal weaving operation in La Bridoire; a site producing washers, nuts, clips, rings and special stamping in La Ferté Fresnel; and an automotive parts, extrusions and special bolts facility in Vieux Condé.
In recent months Acument has sold or closed some facilities, including Camcar Aerospace in Rockford, IL.
Acument has also made acquisitions, including the 2008 purchase of Burbank, CA-based Saturn Fasteners, which is now Acument’s sole plant dedicated to making fasteners for aerospace customers. ©2010 GlobalFastenerNews.com
