Anixter Expands Access Control Market Presence

Anixter International Inc. has acquired all the outstanding shares of Clark Security Products Inc. and the assets and operations of General Lock LLC for $36.6 million in cash.

San Diego-based Clark generates annual sales of $115 by distributing security products and locksmith supplies to commercial, industrial and government entities throughout the U.S., with major distribution centers in San Diego, CA; Dallas, TX; Sacramento, CA; Denver, CO; Lexington, KY; Silver Spring, MD; Phoenix, AZ; and Kent, WA.

“As a market leader, Clark immediately positions Anixter as a significant player in the access control market,” stated Anixter CEO Bob Eck. “Combined with Anixter’s existing security business, we will continue to lead the security market as it increasingly migrates towards IP (Internet Protocol) based systems.”

By leveraging Anixter’s geographical presence and logistics capabilities, the company will expand the reach of Clark’s product set across North America and then into international markets.

Sales at Anixter’s U.S. OEM supply business, including Anixter Fasteners, grew 11.3% to $140 million in the third quarter of 2010. OEM sales in Europe jumped 36% to $92.7 million.

Nine-month OEM sales in the U.S. gained 2.1% to $403.1 million, while sales in Europe increased 27.3% to $278.6 million.  ©2010 GlobalFastenerNews.com
