Anixter North American Fastener Segment Sales Edge Up
Anixter International reported sales at its North American OEM Supply segment, including fasteners, dropped 10% to $112.8 million during the second quarter of 2009, while OEM Supply revenue in Europe fell 45% to $93.9 million.
“The best performance was within our North American OEM supply market where we saw a 10 percent year-on-year organic decline,” stated CEO Robert Eck.
Six-month OEM Supply sales in North America grew 0.4% to $245.3 million, with segment sales in Europe slipping 38% to $204.3 million.
Overall Anixter sales dipped 25% to $1.22 billion during Q2. A quarterly net loss of $89.8 million included $100 million of expense related to the goodwill impairment charge for European operations, compares to net income of $65 million during the second quarter of 2008.
In early July Anixter Pentacon and Anixter Eurofast were combined as the Aerospace Hardware division of Anixter Inc.
Anixter Aerospace Hardware has facilities in Texas, Canada, UK and France and is headquartered at 21123 Nordhoff St., Chatsworth, CA 91311.
