Anixter North American Fastener Segment Top Performer of 2009

Anixter International reported sales at its North American OEM Supply segment, including fasteners, outperformed the company’s other business units in 2009, dropping 5% to $506.8 million. Final quarter results included a 9.5% decrease in sales to $134.8 million.

“Our best sales performance was within our North American OEM Supply end market, where continuing softness with aerospace customers was partially offset by slight growth with industrial customers, resulting in a 10 percent year-on-year organic decline in sales,” stated CEO Robert Eck.

Overall North American sales declined 12.8% to $3.73 billion.

Full-year European OEM Supply sales, including fasteners, dropped 34.5% to $398.1 million, which included a Q4 sales decline of 23% to $94.9 million.

Consolidated revenue decreased 18% to $4.98 billion in 2009, with a $29.3 million net loss compared with net income of $187.9 million in 2008.
