ASTM Honors Sharp

ASTM International presented its Award of Merit and title of fellow to David Sharp. The award recognizes Sharp’s leadership on ASTM Committee F16 on Fasteners and his fastener standards development. Sharp is a project engineer and director of quality for GMS Engineers of New York.
A member of ASTM since 1990, Sharp is secretary of the F16 committee and its executive subcommittee and chair of F16.95 committee on long range planning. Sharp has been involved in development or revision of several F16 standards,
Prior to joining GMS, Sharp was with fastener manufacturer TurnaSure LLC, Avnet Industrial and Bechtel Power Corp. He is a 1985 graduate of the Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Sharp also is active on ASTM committees on steel, stainless steel and alloys, concrete, nondestructive testing, quality, forensic sciences and laboratory & inspection agency accreditation.
Sharp is now involved in such engineering issues as welding but maintains a fastener expertise. He has been involved in specificing fasteners for a building under construction which will be the tallest in Spain. E-mail: david.sharp@gmsllp.com
