ASTM Honors Sharp With Award of Merit

ASTM International presented its Award of Merit and title of fellow to David Sharp. \The award recognizes Sharp”s leadership on ASTM Committee F16 on Fasteners and his fastener standards development.
Sharp is a project engineer and director of quality for Gilsanz, Murray Steficek LLP / GMS Engineers of New York.
A member of ASTM since 1990, Sharp is secretary of the F16 committee and its executive subcommittee and chair of F16.95 committee on long range planning. Sharp has been involved in the development or revision of several F16 standards
Sharp also is a member of ASTM committees A01 on steel, stainless steel & related alloys; C09 on concrete & aggregates, E07 on nondestructive testing, E1 on quality & statistics, E30 on forensic sciences, and E36 on laboratory & inspection agency accreditation.
Outside ASTM Sharp is a member of the American Welding Society, the American Concrete Institute, the Bolting Technology Council, the Research Council on Structural Connections, the Society of Automotive Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Structural Engineers Association of New York.

Prior to joining GMS, Sharp was with fastener manufacturer TurnaSure LLC, Avnet Industrial and Bechtel Power Corp. He is a 1985 graduate of the Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
