ASTM Rebranding to Emphasize Global Programs, Training & Testing

ASTM International announced a rebranding to emphasize its global presence and programs beyond traditional standards, including training, proficiency testing, certification and the portal service Compass.

“While ASTM is well known by those we serve, our new brand applies a unified approach to the way we communicate the outstanding quality of our work and the expertise of our members to all of our audiences worldwide,” ASTM president James Thomas said.

“We have been through a thorough review process that has resulted in a brand identity that truly aligns with our mission and values, and empowers us to think and talk about ourselves in a more impactful way as we express who ASTM International is today.”

ASTM adopted a new purpose statement: “Helping our world work better.”

The ASTM International Committee F16 on Fasteners meets twice a year, with approximately 50 members attending over three days of technical meetings. The Committee has jurisdiction of over 60 standards, published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards, Volume 01.08.  F16 standards consist of specifications, guides, practices and test methods for bolts, screws, nails, and other fasteners for industrial and government use. The ASTM logo for 100 years has been refined to a less angular and more contemporary monogram. The changes also make the logo more usable across a range of media.

The new branding has been applied across the ASTM website, the ASTM magazine Standardization News, the ASTM electronic member newsletter eNews, social media, corporate video and collateral materials.

Changes were announced during the ASTM board meeting in South Korea. Past board meeting locations include Beijing, Berlin, Chicago, London, Mexico City, New York City, Stockholm, Tokyo, Toronto and Washington, D.C.

Over 12,000 ASTM standards operate globally – including products from children’s toys to aircraft.
