Atlantic Fasteners Adds Online Fastener Training

Atlantic Fasteners Inc. unveiled two new seminars in its online educational series.
The free “Fastener Materials & Strength Levels” seminars teach shortcuts to accurately converting inch and metric size fasteners. Web: AtlanticFasteners.com
The seminars are designed to help professionals to “pair the right nuts and bolts to handle load and shear levels and avoid the traps of paying too much for fasteners or worse, the false economies that lead to disastrous failures. Fasteners from the weakest to the strongest are presented, comparing markings, shapes and colors that distinguish grades, strength levels and other properties.”
The new seminars build on the original “Bolting Basics,” which describes how bolts and nuts are manufactured, compares the advantages and disadvantages of cold- and hot-formed and machined fasteners and offers tips on avoiding mistakes when choosing among grades and prices.
The seminars are for designers, engineers, buyers, assemblers, mechanics and others involved in selecting and using fasteners.
“Designers and engineers need easily digestible information to do their jobs well, but get very little training on fasteners in college or on the job. A $.05 fastener can make or break a $250,000 project,” said Tony Peterson, Atlantic Fasteners president.
Atlantic Fasteners tech services & made-to-print manager Dan McKeeman presents the seminars, which include demonstrations and close-ups of fastener samples to make the technical concepts easy to understand. Each seminar runs about 30 minutes.
