Automotive Fastener Manufacturer To Double Facility & Workforce
U.S.-based automotive fastener manufacturer Sunright America Inc. announced plans to add up to 100 new jobs by 2014 and nearly double its manufacturing footprint.
The company, which is owned by Japanese firm, will expand its current 170,000 sq ft building in Columbus, IN, to 320,000 square feet to meet growing demand from Toyota and other OEMs. Construction and installation of new manufacturing equipment slated to begin this fall.
Sunright, which currently has 93 full-time employees in Indiana, plans to begin hiring additional manufacturing, quality and production control associates to coincide with facility improvements.
Incorporated in Indiana in 2002, Sunright was formed as a joint venture between Sugiura Seisakusho Co. Ltd. of Aichi, Japan, and Rightway Fasteners of Columbus, IN. Sugiura owns 95% and Rightway owns 5% of Sunright America.
In 2008, Sunright America moved to its current Columbus location. The company, which primarily manufactures weld nuts and flange nuts, supplies to approximately 80 customers including Toyota and Hino.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Sunright up to $550,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $200,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. The city of Columbus will consider additional property tax abatement at the request of the Columbus Economic Development Board.
