Baddryka Honored With 2010 FTI Technical Achievement Award
Paul Badryka, a senior design associate on the R&D staff at Magni Industries Inc. received the FTI Technical Achievement Award for 2010.
Badryka developed a single-coat, zinc-rich fastener coating system to replace zinc plating and trivalent passivation.
Badryka’s Magni 501 system is suited for fasteners, recessed parts and stampings. He designed it to be applied via dip/spin or spray application.
Badryka formulated a combination of chrome-free, anti-corrosion pigments to blend into the 501 coating system as a perquisite to extending the service life of the steels used to make fasteners and stampings. It also creates the rheology necessary to achieve film forming characteristics when coating fasteners in bulk applications without sacrificing cathodic protection.
In his 32 years with Magni, Badryka has developed a variety of coating systems used in the building, automotive and aerospace markets. He is a co-inventor on a patent-pending coating to resist corrosive attacks of biofuel blends for fuel tank applications.
Fastener Technology International magazine presents the award annually to individuals responsible for major technical developments related to making, distributing or using fasteners. Nominations for 2011 can be e-mailed by November 1, 2011 to: mcnulty@fastenertech.com. ©2011 GlobalFastenerNews.com
