BBI Named Master Distributor for Nucor Fasteners
Brighton-Best International has reached an agreement with Nucor Fasteners to become its principle master distributor of U.S. manufactured standards.
Product lines include grades 5 & 8 standard caps crews, structural products and graded nuts and bolts.
Taiwan-based Brighton-Best primarily known as an importer and master distributor of Asian-produced fasteners.
Nucor Steel Corporation began production of domestic fasteners in 1986 in a then-new plant in Indiana. Nucor Corp. reported Cold Finished Steel sales, including results from Nucor Fastener, rose 11% to 115,000 tons in the final quarter of 2013.
However, the quarterly increase was not enough to keep overall segment sales from slipping 4% to 492,000 tons for the year.
Overall Q4 sales at Nucor rose 10% year-on-year to $4.89 billion – a decrease of 1% from the company’s third quarter revenue. Net earnings climbed 24% to $170.5 million. (For a summary of the last five years of Nucor Fasteners segment performance click here.)

Brighton-Best acquired Porteous Fastener in November 2013. PFC had distributed Nucor products.
After announcing the Porteous acquisition, Peggy Hsieh of Brighton-Best told FIN that “BBI is committed to stocking domestic fasteners from Nucor Fastener and has already commenced placing orders for replenishment stock.”
