B/E Aerospace Achieves $200m in New Business Trend

B/E Aerospace announced that its main cabin seating platforms have been selected by a number of the world’s leading airlines for their narrow-body aircraft.

The awards, all of which have been won over the last several months, are for seating for both new-buy aircraft and retrofit seating for existing aircraft.

The awards — initially valued at approximately $200 million — were driven primarily by the company’s new patented Pinnacle main cabin seating platform. Since its launch in late 2009, the Pinnacle seating platform has been awarded contracts of more than $400 million to equip more than 1,000 new or existing aircraft.

“Airlines’ new-buy aircraft decisions are driving contemporaneous decisions to retrofit the coach class cabins of their existing aircraft fleets,” stated CEO Amin Khoury. “We expect this trend to continue as the airframe manufacturers continue to increase their delivery rates for both narrow and wide-body aircraft over the next several years.”

In 2008 BE Aerospace bought Honeywell’s aerospace fastener distribution business, Honeywell Consumable Solutions, for $1.06 billion, transforming BE Aerospace into one of the largest distributors of aerospace fasteners in the world.

In the opening weeks of the fourth quarter BE Aerospace initiated two acquisitions: TSI on October 4, 2010, and Satair’s aerospace fastener distribution business on October 25, 2010, for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $475 million. ©2011 GlobalFastenerNews.com
