Bossard Reports Record Sales and Profits

Bossard set records for sales and profits in the first half of 2014, boosted by accelerating demand in Europe and Asia.

First-half sales increased 5.6% to CHF 321 million (US$357.7million). In Europe, sales rose 7.1% to CHF 208.2 million year-on-year.

“This increase in demand is particularly significant since 65% of Bossard’s sales originate in European markets,” the company stated.

In the U.S., Bossard sales dropped 5.6% to CHF 65.7 million, caused by “weaker demand from a major customer.” Bossard remains confident that a three-year agreement with electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla “will stimulate business in the second half of the year and greatly improve sales growth in America.”

In Asia, Bossard called its growth “impressive.” Sales in local currency rose 17.6% to CHF 47.1 million, resulting from new customer gains.

Bossard net income rose 10.5% to a record CHF 32.3 million despite higher taxes.
