Capital Expenditure Index Holds Steady

John Wolz

Sales and profits were down, and so were capital expenditures in 2001.
At 2.7 the FIN Survey Capital Expenditures Index was at its lowest point in the eight years it has been monitored. The Index fell from 3.2 for 2000, making it the biggest drop thus far. At the beginning of the year the industry predicted capital expenditures would decline for the fourth consecutive year, and the 2.7 results were even lower than the 3.0 projection.
For 2002 the fastener industry projects capital expenditures at 2.9 on the scale. \ 2002 FastenerNews.com
