China Fastener Production Nears 5 Million Tons
China produced 4.97 million tons of metal fasteners in 2011, ChinaFastener.Info reports.
Zhejiang province was the leading producer, with 1.83 million tons — about 37% of the overall total.
Rounding out the top five fastener producing regions were Hebei (954,191 tons); Jiangsu (624,983 tons), Shandong (317,699 tons) and Shanghai (316,905 tons), according to information provided by ChinaFastener.Info.
China has been embroiled in a public dispute with the European Union over tariffs the EU placed on certain fastener imports from China and Taiwan. China took the case to the World Trade Organization, which ruled against the tariffs.
