China H1 Fastener Output Jumps

China’s metal fasteners output rose 12% year-on-year to 4,.41 million tons tons for the first half of 2015,ChinaFastener.Info reports.

The top five provinces by volume were Zhejiang province (up .26% to 1.4 million tons), Hebei province (up 42% to 724,240 tons), Sichuan province (up 29% to 654,200 tons), Jiangsu province (up 4% to 344,125 tons), and Liaoning province (up 15% to 241,505 tons), according to ChinaFastener.Info.

China’s increased fastener output comes amid falling U.S. fastener exports, which declined 1% in May for the second straight month, according to Zepol data analyzed by GlobalFastenerNews.com.

The top five consumers of U.S. fastener exports in May were Mexico (up 0.9% month-to-month to $112.4 million); Canada (down 5.2% to $85.9 million); China (up 12.1% to $17.6 million); the UK (up 3.8% to $13.7 million); and Germany (down 1% to $9.3 million).

U.S. fastener imports of iron and steel fasteners (HTS Code: 7318) declined 9% in May to $449.3 million, Zepol reports.
