Chinese Fastener Exports Jump As Prices Drop

Fastener exports to European and U.S. markets from Jiaxing, China, increased to $138 million during the first half of 2010, with nearly all of the growth in the EU.

Exports to Europe rose 69% to $75 million, while fastener exports to the U.S. grew 2.1% to $63 million, according to Jiaxing Fasteners Import & Export Manufacturers Association.

Fastener exports to Russia, Brazil and India more than doubled, with Russia consuming $35.1 million in fasteners, Brazil accepting $13.6 million and India ordering $8 million worth of fasteners.

While strong, those figures reportedly remain below export figures for 2008, according to ChinaFastener.info.

Six-month fastener export volume increased to 303,551 tons with export value of US$ 342.1 million, while the average price dropped 2% to $1126.9/ kilogram.

Total exports grew 51% to $342.1 million, with fastener imports to Jaixing totaled $10.7 million.  ©2010 GlobalFastenerNews.com
