Defense supplier Level 1 Fasteners paid $3.5 million for an industrial center in Huntington, WV, the Herald-Dispatch reports.

The company plans to relocate from its current Huntington facility in the 300 block of 3rd Avenue to the Huntington Industrial Center (HIC) is located along 8th Avenue West between 5th Street West and 9th Street West.

Level 1 Fasteners plans to begin adding 30 more workers to its staff of 75 as it relocates over the next four months. The company will also invest up to $2 million in new equipment and office space for the facility.

“The nice about purchasing this property is we’ll be able to expand on our  business,” said general manager Ted Bourdelais. “We may also bring in other businesses and lease space to these other businesses. So we’d help the whole community.”

Company owner Jack Bourdelais said his business is “bursting at the seams” and needs a new facility.

“It’s an ideal site for us,” he explained. “It has 12,500 kilavolts of power. We have 1,200. So it’s a ten times expansion.”

Founded in 1959, Level 1 Fasteners manufactures high-performance fasteners for the U.S. Navy and its subcontractors, as well as for aerospace, aircraft, medical and oil drilling applications. Web: level1fasteners.com  ©2011 GlobalFastenerNews.com
