Robert Devers of A-Jax Fasteners is the 2010 president of the Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association.

Mike Kangas of Alaska Industrial Hardware Inc. is the new vice president and slated to be president for 2011.

STAFDA’s 33rd annual convention is being held this week in Atlanta.

Devers is executive vice president of Florida-based A-Jax. Founded in 1973 by David Baker and Mary Anne Baker, as a fastener distributorship, A-Jax has expanded in tools and supplies. Fasteners remain 60% of the business.

A-Jax has 48 employees. A-Jax has branches in Ocala and Tallahassee, FL; and Savannah and Valdosta, GA; and is headquartered in a 50,000 sq ft building in Jacksonville.

STAFDA executive director Georgia Foley announced membership is 2,669 – down 9% from a year ago. At 3,531-advance registration for the 2009 show in Atlanta is down 17%.

Palin Speaking at 2010 STAFDA Convention in Phoenix

Sarah Palin will be the keynote speaker at STAFDA’s 2010 convention.

Palin was chosen by 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain as his vice presidential running mate. She subsequently resigned as governor of Alaska to write an autobiography and pursue other opportunities.
