Though still below averages of recent years, the economic confidence of fastener executives edged up at the end of 2009 from record lows year ago.
The Global Economic Confidence Index rose to 2.8 from 2.2 a year ago.
The global index has averaged 2.9 since the question was first asked at the end of 1995.
The global high was 3.3 for both 1995 and 2004.
The North American Economic Confidence Index for the end of 2009 was at 2.7 – up from 2.1 a year ago but well below the 3.1 average of the past 14 years. The North American high was 3.8 for 1998.
No FIN Survey participant rated their confidence in either the global or North American economies at “Very High.”
A 61% majority rated their confidence level in the North American economy at “moderate” and 29.3% “Low.”
A 54.2% majority pegged their global confidence level at “Moderate” and 33.7% “Low.” ©2010 GlobalFastenerNews.com
