Dana Wilson of Empire Bolt & Screw Inc. will attend University of Innovative Distribution on a scholarship from the Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association, Empire general manager Jennifer Harder announced.
UID will be March 5-8, 2017, in Indianapolis.
Wilson started with the Spokane, WA distributorship in buying and was promoted to purchasing manager before taking a hiatus to care for a family member. She returned to Empire Bolt in 2014 in packaging and subsequently been promoted to warehouse operations manager and quality systems coordinator.
The UID Sunday through Wednesday courses include 43 topics such as branch management, leadership, sales, differentiating companies, acquisitions, data analytics, cost savings, value of service, hiring, personnel, marketing, negotiation skills, inventory, warehouse operations and pricing.
STAFDA will host a dinner following the UID welcome reception.
“Learning in the classroom is only half of the educational component to UID,” STAFDA executive director Georgia Foley said. “Learning from other distribution professionals is the other 50%.”
Foley credited Wilson’s “impressive background and solid work experience,” for the selection by the STAFDA board.
