EU Stainless Antidumping Case Terminated
The European Industrial Fastener Institute has withdrawn its anti dumping and subsidy complaint, lodged with the European Commission last June, against stainless steel fasteners imports from India and Malaysia, reports Fastener+Fixing Magazine editor Phil Matten.
Doctor Giuseppe Marzorati, Chairman of EIFI Group 3 – Stainless Steel Fasteners, told Fastener+Fixing Magazine, “The investigations have shown that there may be a need to enlarge the product scope of the trade actions and verification of this will take some more time. That’s why EIFI decided to temporarily suspend the SSF complaints.”
He continued, “I would like to underline that there were other previous cases that were temporarily suspended but anyway had, after the necessary clarifications from the Parties involved, a positive conclusion.”
The European Commission Trade Defence section has written to interested parties enclosing a copy of the letter of withdrawal, dated 1 April, explaining that the investigation may be terminated “unless such termination would not be in the Union’s interest.” The letter set a deadline of 26 April for comments to be received so a formal announcement from the Commission ought to come shortly, says Matten. The investigation was due to announce its preliminary decision on the case in May. ©2010 GlobalFastenerNews.com and Fastener + Fixing Magazine
