Fastener Growth Stalls at Fastenal
Fastenal Co. reported sales in April fell 0.9% to $331.5 million, while daily sales increased 3.8% to $15.8 million.
Fastener sales growth remained unchanged, compared to fastener sales growth of 2% in 2015. Compared to fasteners, daily sales of Fastenal’s other products gained 6.5%.
Daily sales to manufacturing customers grew 3.8%, while sales to non-residential construction customers declined 0.8%.
Fastenal opened 21 stores in the first four months of 2016, compared to 2 in the first four months of 2015.
Total personnel at the end of April was up 5.9% to 20,418 employees. Distribution personnel increased 7.1% to 2,439, while manufacturing personnel declined 5.1% to 597.
