Fastener Manufacturer Adding 1,400 Rooftop Solar Panels

P&R Fasteners is adding 1,400 rooftop solar panels to its 100,000 sq ft New Jersey plant to offset 99% of the building’s annual electrical load.
“We recognize the growing awareness and demand for environmentally proactive practices from our customers, partners and employees and believe this project is representative of P&R’s commitment to meeting them,” controller Douglas Joyce said. “After a comprehensive assessment, we determined a solar PV project would be the best way to further our sustainability objectives.”

The solar system is designed and installed by Manasquan, NJ-based Solis Partners. The solar panels will generate approximately 295,000 kilowatt hours of electricity and eliminate more than 400,000 pounds of CO2 emissions annually.

The panels are in conjunction with a white “cool” roof system. The reflective roof enhances energy efficiency of the building envelope plus increases solar production. The solar facility will be completed in March 2011.
