Fastenal Co. reported fastener sales increased 6.7% in May, continuing the company’s fastener success that began in February, when Fastenal said fastener sales improved 1.5% – marking the company’s first uptick in fastener sales since the third quarter of 2015.

Overall Fastenal sales rose 14.9% to $383.4 million in May, with daily sales growing 9.7% to $17.43 million.

Sales in the U.S. gained 9.5%, while overall North American sales improved 9.7%.

Sales to manufacturing customers rose 8.1% in May, while sales to non-residential construction customers increased 7.2%.

Fastenal’s workforce declined 1.4% to 19,996 during the month, which included a 1.3% drop in manufacturing personnel to 586. Distribution personnel increased 0.7% to 2,439.

During the opening quarter of 2017, fastener sales represented 35.6% of net sales for Fastenal, growing 0.8% to $373.8 million during the period. Web: fastenal.com
