FDI: Sales & Pricing Jump in April

The Fastener Distributor Index continued to grow in April, rising 3.5% to 55.4 – a level it has not seen since January.

The sales index increased 15.3% to 69, while employment edged up 1.1% to 54.8.

After declining in March, pricing month-to-month in April gained 4.8% to 54.8, while year-to-year pricing jumped 14.8% to 83.3.

About 48% of distributors reported a “higher” outlook for the next six months, while 43% anticipate the “same” results and 10% predict “lower” returns.

In March, the FDI grew 4.6%, with the sales index up 19.3% to 53.7, while employment gained 7.4% to 53.7.

The FDI and Pricing are diffusion indexes based on data supplied by FCH Sourcing Network.

The monthly FDI is a joint production of FCH Sourcing Network and the National Fastener Distributors Association.
