FIN Company Performance Index Edges Back Up

John Wolz

The FIN Company Performance Index edged back up slightly after dropping to its lowest point in eight years at the end of 2001. Companies averaged 5.8, up from 5.6 a year ago, after falling from 6.8 at the end of 2000. The highest was the first year of the Index in 1994.
Distributors appear to be doing better than manufacturers. Distributors rated their companies at 6.1, compared with 5.3 for manufacturers.
Three companies rated performance at record growth, or 10, and three pegged their position at the lowest level of bankruptcy. Last year only one company rated itself at the top, and no companies were at the bottom.
The largest group a quarter of the respondents rated their company at 6.
Three distributors and no manufacturers rated their company at the perfect 10.
Please rate your companys current performance, with 10 as record growth and profits and 0 as bankruptcy.
