FIN SURVEY
The fastener industry continues to give low grades to the White House and even lower to Congress on business issues.
• The negative rating for the White House on business issues increased to 69% at the end of 2013 from 65% a year ago.
The End of 2013 FIN Survey found half ranked the White House as “Very Low” and 19% “Low.”
Those giving a “Moderate” confidence on business issues rating to the White House slipped from 18% a year ago to 12% at the end of 2013.
Both the “High” at 8% and “Very High” at 7% categories edged down from both being at 9% a year ago and 11% two years ago.
• The U.S. Congress dropped even below its 75% negative rating on business issues a year ago to 80% negative in the End of 2013 FIN Survey. A total of 38% rated Congress “Low” (vs. 39% at the end of 2012) and 38% “Very Low” (36% a year ago).
The “Moderate” confidence ranking of Congress fell from 18% at the end of 2012 to 12% for 2013.
A “High” level of confidence was just 3% – down from “High” 5% the past two years; and “Very High” edged down from 3% a year ago to 2% at the end of 2013.
