The fastener industry continues to give low grades to both the White House and Congress on business issues.
• The negative rating for the White House on business issues edged up one percentage point to 64% at the end of 2012 from 63% a year ago.

The End of 2012 FIN Survey found 44% ranked the White House as “very low,” which was better than the 50% “very low” ranking of 2011.The 2012 “low” rating totaled 20% (vs. 13% a year ago). Moderate rating this year totaled 18%, up from 13% at the end of 2011. Both the “high” and “very high” categories are at 9% this year. A year ago both were 11%.

• The U.S. Congress retained its 75% negative rating on business issues by the fastener industry from a year ago. A total of 39% rated Congress “low” (vs. 35% in 2011) and 36% “very low” (40% a year ago).

The “moderate” ranking of Congress edged up to 18% (from 15% in 2011); “high” remained the same at 5%; and “very high” slipped from 5% to 3%. ©2013 GlobalFastenerNews.com
