Distributors totaled 60.9% and manufacturers 39.1% of participants in the End of 2008 FIN Survey of the Fastener Industry. The 30th annual FIN Survey was conducted online.
” Fasteners accounted for an average of 80.6% of company sales.
” The companies averaged 2.6 plants/warehouses and ranged from one to more than 20 facilities.
” FIN Survey participants averaged $24 million in annual sales. Ten participants reported annual sales under $1 million and four reported sales in excess of $200 million.
” Participating companies averaged 75 employees. More than a quarter (28.5%) reported 1 to 20 employees and 2.8% reported more than 500 employees.
” A total of 30.6% reported annual sales under $5 million. A total of 2.8% had sales topping $200 million.
The End of 2008 FIN Survey questionnaire was available online from late November 2008 to mid January 2009. Responses went directly to AWP Research. Individual company responses are kept confidential.
