Distributors totaled 40.7%, manufacturers 35.4% and importers 11.5% of participants in the End of 2007 FIN Survey of the Fastener Industry. The 29th annual FIN Survey is the first conducted entirely online and drew responses from 113 companies.
” Fasteners accounted for an average of 83% of the companies” sales.
” The companies averaged 3.3 plants/warehouses and ranged from one to more than 20 facilities. Eight participants reported annual sales under $1 million, and five reported sales in excess of $200 million.
” Nearly one-third (31.9%) reported 1 to 20 employees, and 7.1% reported more than 500 employees.
” A total of 37.2% reported annual sales under $5 million. A total of 4.45% had sales topping $200 million.
The End of 2007 FIN Survey questionnaire was available online from late November 2007 to the beginning of January 2008. Responses went directly to AWP Research. Individual company responses are kept confidential. AWP Research reports the results to Fastener Industry News and reviews the articles prior to publication in FIN and on FastenerNews.com.
In some of the results the percentages may not add up to 100% due to “Don”t Know/Not Sure” responses and/or rounding to one decimal place.
