An automotive fastener factory in Troy, MI, had “extensive damage” after a fire swept through the building Sunday afternoon, the Detroit News reports.
It took firefighters about two and a half hours to extinguish the blaze, which reportedly burned throughout Midwest Acorn Nut Company’s facility on Executive Drive, one of two locations the company operates in Troy.
“The building, a single-story warehouse with attached offices, contained ‘ordinary combustibles’ such as cardboard boxes, wood pallets and plastics” that made the fire difficult to extinguish, according to the Detroit News.
No one was in the building at the time.
More than 50 firefighters from four stations worked on the scene for more than eight hours.
