FIN SURVEY
A total of 90% of the respondents in the first FIN Survey, conducted during the summer of 1979, reported higher sales for the first half of the year compared with the opening half of 1978.
And 86% reported first half 1979 sales to be higher than the last half of 1978.
Despite the sales increase 45% of FIN Survey respondents in 1979 believed the U.S. was already in recession; another 34% “say we are about to have one and 3% believe recession will start next year.” Only 10% didn’t expect a recession during 1979 and 6% foresaw no such decline through 1980.
More than two-thirds (68.1%) reported higher profits than the first half of 1979 than the previous first half. Close to that figure – 65.5% – anticipated 1979 profits would top 1978. ©2011 GlobalFastenerNews.com
