Futurist to Keynote STAFDA Convention

Futurist Lowell Catlett will be the keynote speaker at the Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association 28th annual convention.\
In an address titled �Future World � Future Worlds,� the regent�s professor at New Mexico State University, Catlett will speak on technology and its implications.
�It�s a century driven by technology so unbelievable that it affects every industry,� according to STAFDA. �In the process, it changes human lives so dramatically the opportunities presented to both businesses and individuals to prosper are higher than at any time in human existence.�
The convention and trade show will be November 14-16, 2004, in San Francisco.
� Workshop presenters include last year�s keynote speaker, Frank Abagnale, teaching how to protect your company from embezzlement, forgery, counterfeit currency, check fraud, identity theft and Internet fraud. Abagnale was the subject of Stephen Spielberg�s move, �Catch Me If You Can� and lectures at the FBI Academy and to financial institutions, corporations and law enforcement agencies.
� Roger Blackwell, a marketing professor at Ohio State University, will speak on �Brands that Rock.� Blackwell will examine how to create brand identity through the world of rock �n roll by transforming �customers� into �fans.�
� �Present Like a Pro� will be Marjorie Brody�s topic. Brody, author of 15 books, including Speaking is an Audience-Centered Sport, will coach the audience with speech preparation and delivery strategies. �Many salespeople are told how to sell, but few are taught how to give an effective sales presentation.�
� Mark Dancer, vice president of Pembroke Consulting, will speak on �Future Channel Trends & Strategies.� Dancer will give market research, cover manufacturer/distributor issues, channel trends related to customer service, strategic sourcing, trends among business customers, and the future of for-fee services.
