Show attendees voted Giehl-Systems GmbH’s rapid assembly nut as the best new product in the Fastener Fair Europe Innovations Showcase.
The patented nut is pushed over the thread to stop, then tightened at a quarter to half revolution with a wrench. There is no searching for the thread and no trouble if the thread start is damaged. There is no need to rotate the nut up to the stop. It is easier to assemble in confined and non-observable applications. Disassembly is also simplified and without usual problems associated with a seized thread or resistance from rust or paint.
The showcase attracted 17 entries from a spiral drive system to a nanotechnology passivation system. The Giehl-Systems nut collected 32% of votes. Runners up were a Screw-Tite” screw from UK-based Titefix Limited and a hydro-pneumatic riveting tool by Rivit of Italy. 2005 FastenerNews.com
