Grainger Names Macpherson as COO
Grainger promoted DG Macpherson to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer, effective August 1, 2015, reporting to CEO Jim Ryan.
Macpherson was senior VP and Group President of Global Supply Chain and International.
“This change helps position our company for growth across multiple customer segments by increasing alignment across our businesses and improving execution,” said Ryan. “I have great confidence in DG’s abilities as COO. He’s strategic, understands the external market and is very focused on the talent needs of the organization now and in the future.”
Grainger also announced that Court Carruthers, senior VP and Group President, Americas, will leave Grainger at the end of July. Carruthers has been with the company for 13 years.
Grainger’s daily sales, including fasteners, were flat in May. Results for the month included 1 percentage point from acquisitions and a 3 percentage point decline from unfavorable foreign exchange.
Excluding acquisitions and foreign exchange, organic sales increased 2%, driven by 3 percentage points from volume, partially offset by a 1 percentage point decline in price.
During Q1 Grainger reported sales, including fasteners, increased 2% to $2.4 billion, while Q1 net earned declined 3% to $211 million and EPS was flat at $3.07.
