Grainger Promotes O’Brien and Yin
Grainger named Sean O’Brien as president of the company’s Canadian subsidiary, Acklands-Grainger.
O’Brien’s new responsibilities include oversight of the Canadian business operations which had revenues of $728 million in 2008. O’Brien succeeds and reports to Court Carruthers who became Senior Vice President and President, Grainger International, in March of this year.
O’Brien, 42, joined Acklands-Grainger as vice president of sales in November 2007, taking on responsibilities for E-Business and Marketing this year.
Acklands-Grainger employs 2,300 workers at 159 branches and five distribution centers, with 2008 sales reaching $728 million.
Grainger also named Jeff Yin as vice president and general manager of Grainger China in Shanghai. Yin’s responsibilities include oversight of the Chinese business operations, which had revenues of approximately $10 million in 2008. Like O’Brien, Yin reports to Carruthers.
“We opened in Shanghai in 2006, the first U.S. industrial distribution company to be established on a standalone basis in China. Our goal is to rapidly grow our MRO business in China, leveraging our strengths in safety products, tools and material handling,” said Carruthers. “Jeff brings a great deal of energy and experience to this role and knows what products our customers need to maintain, repair and operate their facilities.”
Yin joined Grainger China, established in 2006, as director of sales and marketing in April 2007.
Grainger China offers more than 50,000 products through a 126,000 sq ft branch and distribution center, a Chinese-language catalog and website. ©2009 GlobalFastenerNews.com
