Grainger To Acquire WFS Enterprises
Amid shrinking revenues in Canada, Grainger’s Canadian division, Acklands-Grainger, agreed to acquire employee-owned WFS Enterprises Inc. for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 1955 as Windsor Factory Supply and based in Windsor, Ontario, WFS distributes more than 100,000 products with a focus on safety, metalworking, plumbing, and hand and power tools.
WFS employs approximately 275 people at 12 locations, including 10 branches in Southwest Ontario, and two facilities in the U.S. — in Michigan and South Carolina. WFS had 2013 sales of approximately $87 million.
WFS has been 100% employee owned since 1995. In 2007 WFS acquired Keep Industrial Supplyand expanded in Southwest Ontario. In 2008 WFS opened in South Carolina.
WFS focuses on the MRO health & safety and plumbing markets.
“This acquisition will create greater customer value through a broader product offering, additional solutions and technical expertise relevant to the manufacturing sector,” said Court Carruthers, Group President, Americas, Grainger.
The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2014.
