HB Aerospace Joins Arizona’s $3.8b Aviation Industry

Aviation fastener distributor HB Aerospace has opened in Mesa, AZ.

The company is owned by Sue Hammer and Carrie Boyer. Their husbands, Joe Hammer and Chris Boyer, are managing partners in the firm.

“A year ago, (Joe and Chris) met with their wives and discussed starting a business with the women as owners, which could provide a competitive advantage with government and defense contracts, which often include preferences for minority or women-owned companies,” the Arizona Republic reports.

“My father was in the aerospace fastener business,” Sue Hammer told the Republic. “So it’s in our blood.”

According to the company’s website, Joe Hammer has over 30 years of aerospace hardware experience, most recently as VP and general manager of B/E Aerospace Consumables Management Group. Prior to that he worked for 9 years with Honeywell Consumable Solutions as business director. He’s also worked for Huck International, Fairchild Fasteners, Screwcorp, Voi-Shan and Vanadium Pacific Steel.

Chris Boyer has two decades of industry experience, most recently serving as customer and product support director for Honeywell Aerospace for the Americas. Prior to that he worked for Honeywell’s Consumable Solutions group.
