HD Supply Chooses Atlanta Headquarters

Eight months after being sold by Home Depot for $8.5 billion, HD Supply has decided to headquarter its operations in Atlanta.
HD Supply includes three fastener companies that Home Depot acquired in 2005 and 2006: Crown Bolt, Brampton Fastener (Brafasco) and Western Fasteners.
Private equity firms Bain Capital Partners, Carlyle Group and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice entered into a partnership to buy the wholesale supplier in August 2007. Home Depot still owns 12.5% of the company.
HD Supply reportedly is Georgia”s second-largest privately held corporation by revenue, with 20,000 employees and sales approaching $11 billion a year.
Despite rumors of a potential IPO in the next coming years, HD Supply remains focused on growing through acquisitions of smaller companies.
“We do not plan to go public in 3-5 years, nor do we have a specific timeframe that we are working toward in any way, but it is a possibility,” public relations director Erica Crosling told FIN. “As part of our growth strategy, we do plan to grow through acquisitions as well as organically.”
HD Supply, which has about $1.7 billion in his coffers for acquisitions, plans to scale back if a division isn”t contributing to growth.
The new headquarters reportedly was readied in just 33 days after the company chose that location over facilities in Orlando, where about 1,800 employees work. About 200 people work in the head office, with a total of 1,000 in metro Atlanta. HD Supply is led by CEO Joe DeAngelo.
Home Depot launched the supply business in 1997 and expanded it by paying $3.2 billion for Hughes Supply in 2006. HD Supply is headquartered at 3100 Cumberland Blvd., Suite 1700, Atlanta, GA 30339. Tel: 770 852-9000 Web: hdsupplyinc.com \ 2008 FastenerNews.com
