Robert Hill became chairman and Steve Fischer vice chairman of the Industrial Fasteners Institute at the annual meeting this month in Santa Barbara, CA.
Hill, CEO of Hill Fastener Corporation of Rock Falls, IL, succeeds John O�Brien of Federal Screw Works.
Hill joined the company in 1978 after 11 years with Armour & Co. He became president of Hill Fastener in 1989.
Fischer is vice president of Fischer Special Manufacturing Co. of Cold Spring, KY.
Fischer is the son of 1982 IFI chairman Carl Fischer. IFI managing director Rob Harris said they would be the first father/son combination to be chairmen in the nearly 70-year history of the fastener manufacturers� organization.
New IFI board members are: Jerry Begue, CEO of Lake Erie Screw Corporation, Division I/industrial; Jim Dauw, vice president/general manager of the Carson operation of Huck Aerospace, Division II/aerospace; and Steve Beach, sales vice president, Textron Fastening Systems/Automotive, Division III/automotive.
Continuing board members are Mortie Chaikelson, Infasco, and Skip Gallo, Holo-Krome, Division I; Greg Anderson, Monogram Aerospace Fasteners, and Bryant Cranston, SPS Technologies Inc., Division II; John Fischer, Illinois Tool Works, and Tim Taylor, MacLean-Fogg Company, Division III.
The IFI announced its new trade show would be named the Industrial Fastener & Forming International Exhibition & Conference. The first IFFI is scheduled June 4-7, 2001, at the Cleveland (OH) Convention Center.
IFI and the International Fastener Machinery Association will sponsor the show, which is designed primarily for fastener machinery producers as exhibitors and fastener manufacturers as attendees.
