Hillman Group to Pay $1.6m in Trademark Suit

Cincinnati-based Hillman Group Inc. settled a trademark infringement lawsuit, agreeing to pay Illinois-based Steelworks Hardware LLC $1.63 million.

In the suit, filed on November 23, 2011, Steelworks accused Hillman, Ace Hardware, Lowe’s and True Value of trademark and trade dress infringement, among other things. Hillman stated in its annual report that it had entered into a licensing and marketing agreement with Steelworks in 2005.

Last year Hillman reported revenue of $506 million — with roughly 55% of that generated from fasteners. ©2012 GlobalFastenerNews.com
