The Industrial Fasteners Institute presented its 2022 Soaring Eagle service award to Michael Friel of Haydon Bolts and St. Louis Screw & Bolt, and its technology award to Kevin Menke of Fastenal Co.

Friel has been the IFI chairman, officer and committee chair, as well as a member of ASTM committees and the Research Council on Structural Connections.

Menke was recognized for contributions to fastener technology and standards, including the revision of ASTM B633. Menke led a collaborative effort to correct the record on hydrogen embrittlement.
